Kova M – On my way to Africa
On the outskirts of Lisbon you can find Cova da Moura, the only existing favela in Europe. It is a microcosm with about 6000 inhabitants. Most of them are steming from Cape Verde, some from Angola, Portugals former colonies. One inhabitant told me: `The big difference between us and closenit communities is, that a lot of us were born with a Portuguese passport but we don`t get a chance because of our address.`
In this favela the streets are full of African culture; especially in music, shops and bars you can find this lifestyle. The inhabitats like their place and call it Kova M. For me it is important to become the unseen visitor of this community.
